About Us
Cathy and I purchased 20 acres in 1998, and built
our dream home back in the St. Croix river valley. Most of the
land was 100 year old oaks with 6 acres of open land to the front
of our house with a perfect southern exposure.
In 2006 we were encouraged by a friend to start a
hobby, and he suggested wine making. We knew nothing about wine
or having a vineyard. In November of 2006, we started our first
batch of wine and it was actually very good, so we started several
more. We hosted several wine tasting events for family and friends,
with everyone agreeing that we needed to start a business, and
Valley Vineyard was born.
In the spring of 2007, we planted 1,750 grape varieties
and we now have 5,600 cold hardy grape varieties under management,
including Frontenac, Frontenac Gris, Marquette, St. Pepin, Brianna,
Foch, Prairie Star, St. Croix, Lacrescent, King of the North and
Sabravois.
The rest is history. Our hobby has turned into an
adventure and we are very excited and look forward to a long future
in the wine business, producing a great wine for your enjoyment.
Cheers!
Rudy & Cathy
